Home Economics Club Style shows, practical demonstrations, and lectures the second Wednesday of each month are of value to you whether you intend to be a housewife or a career woman. You needn't be a home economics major to participate. The group annually sponsors a Baked Bean Supper, a Christmas Party, and a Senior tea. Publications SUI presents fine opportunities to you who enjoy work in journalism, either as an extracurricular activity or, for journalism majors, as practical laboratory experience. The Daily Iowan, issued daily except Sundays and Mondays, is a professional newspaper for the University and Iowa City residents. You may try your talents as a student editor, copyreader, photographer, or advertising salesman by applying in the newsroom on the second floor of the Communications Center. Known for having one of the lartgest distributions of all college yearbooks in the nation, SUI's Hawkeye needs over 100 volunteer staff workers to help in publication. Tryouts for staff positions are announced early in the fall, and you may sign up for work at that time. Women who intend to participate in sorority Rush Week this fall receive a copy of the Panhellenic Handbook during the summer. Details about activities and members in each of SUI's thirteen national sorority chapters are included in the manual. Also presented for your guide to rushing are party schedules, rush regulations, and numerous photographs. The editor is selected by Panhellenic Council from applciations. Freshmen are often chosen for positions on SUI's publications, so don't fail to apply if you are sincerely eager to work in journalism. [hand drawing of typewriter] 22
