termined by last spring's returns are as follows: Joan TePaske, president; Corley Hammill, vice-president; Diane Cherry, secretary; Cheryl Brown, treasurer and sophomore representative Jo Roberts. These elected officers of the Executive Council, the various committee chairmen and the representatives of the housing units all ocmprise the General Council. With the assistance of well over one thousand committee members, the council sponsors activities throughout the year. The following plans are already on the agenda for the coming 1958-59 school terms. Varsity Varieties Last year was the first staging of the University's Old Gold Days held in April. The large Varsity Varieties talent show, which took place during this entertaining weekend, was sponsored and directed by AWS. It included individual and group acts from various housing units, selected through preliminary tryouts. The show was a tremendous success and is likely to continue its reputation during the years to come. Central Judiciary Aside from the social projects of AWS, there is the service of the Central Judicial Board, which formulates and administers policies and regulations governing University coeds. This board is composed of representatives from the women's dormitories, the Independent Town Women's Association, and the Panhellenic Association at SUI. American Red Cross Helping the American Red Cross is another of the AWS committee activities. Many hours of volunteer service for the benefit of patients at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City are donated by this unit. Nearly three hundred women assist in this program of service and find the work most enjoyable. There are parties and meetings planned regularly by the group. Particularly successful last year were the Hallowe'en and Christmas get togethers in the VA Hospital wards. Student-Faculty Coffee Hours One of the essential aspects of a healthy campus atmosphere is a friendly relationship among students and faculty .
