Profile Preview Once school gets under way in the fall, you'll want to set aside one of your favorite outfits for the Profile Preview, which is also sponsored by AWS. This annual style show is a big event for all new students. It is held in the Main Lounge of the Union before a capacity audience. Clothes ranging from pajamas to cocktail dresses are modeled and a Miss Perfect Profile is selected by a board of visiting judges. You won't want to miss the tryouts for this exciting evening, so start planning ahead and choose a favorite coat, wool dress, or party outfit you might model. Code for Coeds Preceding your official welcome and orientation to the State University of Iowa you receive this informative pamphlet, the Code for Coeds. It is your guide to campus life and activities for the coming year. In conjunction with the New Student Orientation program in the fall, the Code helps to acquaint you with campus life by answering some questions you will have before you set out for your college career. Copies are sent to all prospective students during the summer months. You may wish to apply for the job of editor or art editor of this booklet some year, Orientation The last and probably the largest undertaking of AWS is the new student orientation program. New Student Week at SUI is eventful and fun for all of us, and we hope it will help you to become a real part of our University. If you have already received a letter of welcome from your orientation leader, be sure and contact her for any further information that you might desire. She is eager to meet you and to guide you through the first, sometimes confusing week, on campus. The many things that are planned from the time you dock in Iowa City until classes begin will be planned by the orientation committee of AWS. All of these AWS committees must be composed of able and interested coeds. During the all University activities program held early in the semester, you'll want to sign up for a new student interview so we can have a chance to meet. Through this interview, one of the council members will try to find a committee with which you might like to work. AWS is a starting point for many satisfying activity jobs while you're in college so keep your ears open for positions they might have to offer you. Be ready to fill out applications for one of the various areas of committee work when they are announced throughout the year. 27
