POLISH THE PLAYS You came to college to learn. However, there's another aspect of college life that is sometimes overlooked. SUI offers educational opportunities not only in the classroom, but also in the form of lectures, concerts and plays. Each year many well known personalities come to SUI to lecture and let you share in their experiences. These lectures are interesting and entertaining, as well as being educational. They are something you just won't want to miss, especially since the tickets are yours by merely showing your identification card at the Iowa Memorial Union. Another feature of this cultural program is the several plays put on each year by the University Theatre. SUI is considered to have one of the finest dramatic arts departments in the country, and students come from near and far to major in this field. So although the acting is by students, the results achieved are very professional as well as being very entertaining. these plays are given in the modern University Theatre. You may also be interested in the University Concert series. Concerts are spaced throughout the year, and include the student faculty orchestra, the student chorus, and visiting groups and individual artists. You will enjoy these concerts, even if your special interest is not in the field of music. Thus the wise coed, who budgets her study time, will find that she has the time to enjoy these "extras" offered by the University. SUI provides you with a wide selection of cultural events; it's up to you to cultivate your tastes. [hand drawing of girl] 13
