[hand drawing] Universality The rigors of college life often make one cry for a "break". Such can be most rewarding when used to full advantage. Why not devote some time to the development of the religious phase of your life? Iowa City can rightly be called an "interdenominational center" of the Midwest. Over twenty different church groups are active in or around the campus. all welcome SUI students the year round. here you may find relief from the pressures of school work and an opportunity to make new friends. Among the student religious groups available to you are: Canterbury Club (Episcopal), Christian Science Society, Disciples Student Fellowship (Christian), Friends Meeting (Quaker), Gamma Delta ( Lutheran, Missouri Synod), Hillel Foundation (Jewish Student Center), Iowa Christian Fellowship (interdenominational), Kappa Phi (Methodist sorority), Latter Day Saints, Lutheran Student Association, Nazarene Young People's Society, Newman Club (catholic), Roger Williams Fellowship (Baptist), United Students Fellowship (Congregational and Evangelical Reformed), Wesley Foundation (Methodist). and Westminster Fellowship (presbyterian). A Student Christian Council has been formed by the Protestant groups, each of which has two representatives. This Council integrates specific activities of the various groups and assumes sponsorship of Religion-in-Life Week. This week is devoted to emphasizing the role which religion plays in our everyday life. Speakers lead discussions on pertinent religious topics within the various campus housing units. Lectures and panel discussions are also available to those of the University and community at large. Climaxing Religion-in-Life Week are the World Day of Prayer Services. Occurring simultaneously with this particular week is the Catholic Student Center's annual retreat. Participation in the religious group of your choice may be just what is needed to "clear the air" for you. Whatever your needs, take time out for those facets of life lending deeper understanding and meaning to all that you do. Here is an area which may make that college education truly well-rounded. 17
