[hand drawing STUDENT COUNCIL, W.R.A, YWCA, A.W.S, UNION BOARD CPC] Expanding Horizons An important supplement to the strictly academic side of every college student's life is participation in extracurricular activities. Here one is afforded the opportunity of developing special talents and/or interests while meeting and working with other students. At SUI you will find an almost unlimited range of such organizations, each fulfilling some need in the college community. Participation is, of course, an individual matter, but it should strike an even balance with a student's study program and be in tune with his or her abilities. The wise coed will choose to start off slowly while she adjusts to campus demands. Gradually the scope of active participation may be increased as cumulative experience opens the doors to more responsible positions. If you wish to acquire a preliminary acquaintance with some of the activities open to you read through the pages following. Additional information concerning their programs and goals may be secured at the Activities Open House, September 21 in the Iowa Memorial Union, where representatives of each organization will be on hand to answer your questions personally. See you there ! 18
