Comprised of series of individual or group performances this festival provides the students of other nations with an opportunity to display some aspect of their native culture. If you have an interest in people and a desire to broaden your cultural foundation the Foreign Student Committee is a "must" You'll be working with those who are a living realization of the high value placed upon a college education. STUDENT-FACULTY RELATIONS On a campus the size of the State University of Iowa's it's difficult and often impossible to mingle informally with the faculty unless some media are provided. The Student-Faculty Relations Committee is designed to serve in this capacity This coming year marks a new high for this group in that its field of activity had been greatly expanded. Whereas n the past members have been limited to the planning and execution of a series of six coffee hours throughout the year, it will now be possible for them to delve into neglected areas which provide greater opportunity for the development of student faculty relations. Experimentation with new ideas should keep this committee in the AWS spotlight. SPINSTER'S SPREE Since Leap Year comes but once every four years, AWS has made it possible for all you coeds to get that fellow on the "off years" too. The annual Spinster's Spree all-University dance is your chance to do the asking and the planning. Committee membership on Spinster's Spree is fun and an outlet for your talents in decorating, entertaining, hostessing and other organizational activity. Under the general chairman are five subcommittee chairmen and their respective aides. The latter, for which you are immediately eligible are selected on the basis of applications early in the fall. Should you be one of the lucky ones picked by the screening committee. "it's off to work you go." ORIENTATION By far the largest undertaking of AWS is the Orientation Program, established for those of you arriving on campus for the first time this fall. with the cooperation of other student organizations. 26
