UNIVERSITY SING With spring comes the sound of music to our campus as members of the various housing units prepare for University Sing. Their ultimate goal is to survive semifinal elimination and be able to vie for top honors against approximately five other units in the final round which takes the form of a two-hour show of vocal music presented on Mother's Day Weekend. Free to choose their selections from a wide range of show tunes, popular hits spirituals, and religious folk songs, these groups have from twenty to sixty members each. They are judged on the basis of tone, pitch, diction, stage presence, and choice of songs, by a panel of judges composed of music directors from surrounding towns. Responsible for planning and publicizing the event is the University Sing Committee selected each May through applications submitted to the screening committee.
