1337 W. Harvard Avenue, Orlando, Florida. October 25, 1965 Dear Sir: This is not a letter to compliment the university of Iowa, but one of condemnation. It's a shame that you, Mr. President, would let such things go on as the recent pacifist meeting held on the campus of the University of Iowa. You should hang your head in shame. We the tax payers of this great country should not be compelled to pay taxes to support school that spawn such as this character Stephen Smith. I'm writing my Congressman to ask him to do all he can to prevent this kind of activities, not only at Iowa but at all our great schools and colleges. I don't guess I could ever qualify in any way for a job as a head of such a school, for I would never allow such groups to spawn on the campus and if they did I would probably take a shot gun and run the whole "YELLOW" tribe right back into the gutter where they came from. We know why these Punks are protesting the war in Viet Nam, they are Yellow, and they don't deserve the opportunity to attend a school that has been built and protected by the loyal and duty minded citizens of this country. I'm also sending along a article written by Lieutenant Ward S. Johnson, US Marine Corps, who is now serving in Viet Nam. Take a good look Mr President and then go hide. Or better still, take a club and run Stephen Smith back to Marion, Iowa, where he can root with the pigs, that is where he belongs. John T. Stacy
