Tickets on sale for Fortnightly dinner on Nov. 4

Plans are being completed for the Fortnightly Club anniversary dinner to be held Thursday, Nov. 4. at the Methodist Church. 
A turkey dinner will be served and a varied and interesting program is being planned. The punch hour will be from 6 until 6:30 and the dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Logan Reif of Kalona, county president of Federated Women's Clubs, will be a special guest. 
Reservations must be made by Nov. 1 with Mrs. Harold Gamon and or Mrs Harry Ramseyer, Tickets may be purchased at the time of reservation or at the door that evening. However, members are asked to make their reservations in advance.

- Dr. Charles W. McLaughin Jr. of Omaha was crowned 71st King of Aksarben in Omaha last Friday night. This is an annual gala social affair and it is an honor to have been chosen to rule over the festivities Dr. McLaughlin is a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. C.W. McLaughlin of Washington. 

- Mr and Mrs. Raymond Miller and her son, Larry Barnes, spent the weekend in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Barnes in Ipava, Ill. Sunday afternoon they drove to Canton to visit Frank Barnes, Larry's grandfather, who is in a rest home there. 

- Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Grosscup and Ann and Mrs. Fred Grosscup took Miss Bernadine Grosscup to the Ottumwa airport Sunday evening to board a plane for her home in Los Angeles, Calif., after a two weeks visit in the home of her mother and with other relatives. She had several sightseeing trips while here, one Prarie du Chien.Wis. to see the autumn colors.

The first district of Iowa of Republican Women will meet in Davenport for the fall conference Friday Oct. 29. at the YM - YWCA 606 West Second Street. Registration is 50 cents and the cafeteria luncheon is a minimum of $1. 
Donald Johnson of West Branch is the speaker for the afternoon program which will begin at 1 o'clock. Anyone interested in welcome to attend.
