Any recommendation that provides for a more severe penalty than a removal from the University Listing Services shall not be effective unless approved by the Committee on Student Life. 4. To encourage extra-curricular education in this field. 5. To work on request with interested groups on the campus and similar groups in the city and state. 6. To provide appropriate recognition for outstanding achievements in promoting human relations and the protection of human rights. 7. In its deliberations the Committee shall protect the right of organized social groups within the University to select their own members upon the basis of their individual merits as persons. The Committee on Human Rights shall also diligently protect the rights of householders to select individual tenants as such provided that there shall no discrimination because of race, color, creed, or national origin. It must be recognized that the University does not approve housing facilities in the community for married students and for students 21 years of age or older, but the Committee may hear complaints from students or staff members in these categories and recommend educational and remedial action if the facts so warrant.
