Nondiscrimination Policy Page two The State College of Iowa Placement Bureau does not attempt to fill any position that categorically eliminates any applicant because of race, color, religion, ancestry, or national origin. III. Student Personnel Program The State College of Iowa does not discriminate among individuals or groups because of race, color, creed, ancestry, or national origin in any aspect of its student personnel program. Specifically, the college does not discriminate because of these matters in the following college policies and practices: A. Admission to the college and registration. The application for admission forms neither require nor invite the applicant to indicate his race, color, religion, or nationality, and , the representatives of the college, both on campus and off campus, encourage or discourage an applicant on the basis of his academic and co-curricular record, scores on standardized tests, seriousness of purpose, statements from teachers, counselors, school administrators, and similar evidences of potential ability to do college work. The registration forms provide a space in which a student may indicate his religious preference by using a coded number. This is to provide information to the directors of the student religious centers. The registrant may leave the space vacant if he desires. B. Counseling The college makes available both personal and academic counseling to all students equally without reference to their race, color, creed, or national origin. C. Curriculum The opportunity to enroll on every curriculum and to register for every course is not influenced by the student's race, color, creed , or ancestry. Similarly, there is no discriminatory practice in the use of the library or curriculum laboratory. D. Financial Aids In the administration of financial aids, including scholarships, grants in aid, and part time employment, there shall be no discrimination among applicants because of race, color, creed, or national origin.
