State University of Iowa Iowa City, Iowa Office of Student Affairs [emblem] March 13, 1964 Professor Matthew Stark Executive Secretary Human Relations Subcommittee Senate Committee on Student Affairs Office of the Dean of Students University of Minnesota Minneapolis 14, Minnesota Dear Professor Stark: Dean Huit has asked me to respond to your request for information concerning human relations on the Iowa campus. You may know that President Hancher appointed a Committee on Human Rights early in 1963. This committee, with its various working sub-committees, has been very active the past year. Their First Annual Report is enclosed, which may provide you with some of the information you need. If you want more information in some specific area, I will try to locate it. Two developments have occurred since the report was submitted: (1) a fraternity-sorority group has formed to study the problem of human relations; (2) a conference on human relations has been scheduled for the current semester. I hope the report is useful. Also enclosed is a copy of the CODE OF STUDENT LIFE, which contains a section on human relations. Sincerely yours, James J. Rhatigan Assistant Counselor to Men JJR:ds Enclosures cc: Dean M.L. Huit
