-10- in some cases, actively engaged in this project with the Commission: Chamber of Commerce, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Iowa City Ministerial Society, United Church Women, League of Women Voters, and the Rotary. The Commission also realized that there was need of some printed brochures, stickers and questionnaires. Therefore, the City Council was asked to grant funds for this project. According to the City Attorney a legal technicality would make it impossible for the City to pay for the printing of the sticker, and also unlawful for the Commission to sponsor the sticker as part of its project. Therefore, the project was revised and the Human Relations Commission did not sponsor that part of the project nor did the City pay for the printing of the stickers; this was sponsored by other interested groups, which the City Attorney assured us was completely legal and permissable. Considerable difficulty was encountered in contacting and organizing the interested groups. This, plus the matter just referred to above, resulted in this project being slowed down considerably. It was also necessary to draw up a complete list of employers, businesses and professional people. When all this was completed it then became necessary to coordinate the project with the groups who were furnishing manpower for distributing materials and picking up questionnaires. Although the project began in February, it was not until July that the questionnaires were sent out, and August when they were picked up by volunteer workers. The"vacation" month and pre-occupation of many with the Fair Housing Ordinance resulted in the returns on this project being quite incomplete, until at the present time some 150 businesses (out of 700) still have to be contacted. The present plans are: a) to contact these remaining 150 and obtain their questionnaires, b) a committee is already formed to study and break down the
