39 EBEN X "I am the great grandson of Malcolm X, I will never trust a white man." MR. X. "I did this, I sowed this seed...may I talk to him?" HEAD COUNSELOR "If he wishes..." EBEN X "He can talk to me...I want to talk to him." Malcolm approaches...they go off to the right side of the stage. MR. LINCOLN "Sowing seeds of hate and to be silent in the face of prejudice, reminds me much of those Mexican jumping beans that I played with as a child, they were never quite dead or without life." Voice interrupting...the static of a mike...begin tapped by giners...then... VOICE (off stage--series, echo cahmber--thrundering through the hollowness) "Hear this! Hear this! All you who are dead and those who have died the death." Spotlight begins to sweep around with a small spot...hunting...suspense...the spectators are left, the council center and Malcom and Eben X right. 2ND SPECTATOR (speaking after search light finds them) "It's Mr. Death's Assistant. I've never like him. He tries to be funny, treating death, like the dead are insensitive and don't yearn to live. Like...like it's a natural occurence, without design.
