To encourage extracurricular education in this field. D. To work on request with interested groups on the campus and similar groups in the city and state. E. To provide appropriate recognition for outstanding achievements in promoting human relations and the protection of human rights. F. In its deliberations the Committee shall protect the right of organized social groups within the University to select their own members upon the basis of their individual merits as persons. The Committee on Human Rights shall also diligently protect the rights of householders to select individual tenants as such provided that there shall be no discrimination because of race, color, creed, or national origin. CHAPTER III—HOUSING REGULATIONS I. Approved Housing. All single undergraduate students under age twenty-one are required to reside in quarters approved by the University. Students who reach the age of twenty-one prior to or during the current semester or summer session are not subject to this requirement. A. University Approved Housing: 1. Residence halls. 2. Men’s and women’s fraternity houses. 3. Approved rooming houses. 4. Parental residences. General approval is given to the living quarters of students residing with their parents. (Permission must be obtained from the Office of Student Affairs for students to reside with relatives.) B. Conditions for Approval of Off-Campus Housing. 1. Householders are approved by the Office of Student Affairs if satisfactory adult supervision is provided and the householders agree to enforce regulations of the University concerning rental policy, physical facilities, and conduct of the residents. 2. Approval for off-campus housing may be extended only within the postal territory of Coralville and Iowa City. Students living outside these areas shall be considered commuters. 3. Any approved facility is restricted to residence solely by men students or solely by women students. 4. Assignment of students applying for quarters operated by the University is made without regard to race, color, nationality, or religion, on the basis of established assignment procedures. C. Places of Entertainment. Entertainment of men and women guests in the residences shall be confined to the public areas ONLY. [5]
