5. CHASE'S WASHINGTON Week Sep. 23rd, 1907 MARTON and PEARL Talking and tumbling comedians. First rate act to open with at 2.15 and 8.15. Full stage, closing in one. McCREA and POOLE Rifle shooting. Good number and audience enthusiastic. Full stage. La PETITE MIGNON Imitations. Quite a clever little girl and some of her impersonations were strongly encored. In one. JOHN C. RICE and SALLY COHEN The premier presentation of "A BACHELOR'S WIFE" by H. H. Winslow. A capital sketch, capitally acted and made a big hit. Full stage. INTERMISSION IRENE FRANKLIN and BURT GREEN Miss Franklin did seven character songs, with seven changes of costume, and we must admit that for clever songs, cleverly sung and acted, she receives the medal over the great majority of high priced women stars paid outrageously big salaries. Another big hit. Full stage, but usually in one. JACK NORWORTH The same splendid success as ever. In one. THE ELLIS-NOWLAN TROUPE For men and one woman. Equal to the best eccentric comedy acrobatic numbers we have ever seen or played. Full stage. The AMERICAN VITAGRAPH "Hippopotamus Hunting". Pretty good. H. Winnifred De Witt, Mgr. NOTE- Miss Tanguay did not appear last week after Tuesday. Greatest surprise in the world to us. We knew her peculiarities and everyone waited on her as they would a queen. Not one complaint from her until Wednesday when she said that N. Y. audiences got up in their seats and cheered her, that Washington never did like her and she would not play. At every performance she was given a most respectful hearing, nothing done to offend her but gloves were not torn in applause. She is simply a wilful and spoiled woman and will ever be found doing as she pleases regardless. Our business did not drop after her withdrawal. Capacity all the weeks. They did not come to see any one act but the bill as a whole.
