[[underline]]CHAS. E. EVANS & CO.[[end underline]] "It's up to You, William":- 23 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:45. This act presented by the same people made just as biog a hit as previously some months ago. It is full of clever lines. Plot is well known. Just the kind of comedy that people like in Vaudeville. Closed with big hand, and curtain call. [[underline]]VILLAGE CHOIR[[end underline]]; Vec:- 15 min/ in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:30. When there is no one great sole voice here, the ensemble work is much as to make it very popular with the crowd. Received good advance hand, and each one of their selections got well deserved applause. Close very strong, with curtain calls. [[underline]]GERTRUDE HOFFMANN[?][[end underline]],Caricaturest- 20 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:10. In spite of the fact that some of Miss Hoffmann's work is a little bread for a house like this, it must be admitted that she is something of a genius in her line and carries the day by sheer force of artistic ability. Her caricatures were all good, notably the one of Anna Held. Miss Hoffmann works with unusual accessories, using full stage and six or eight assistants, carrying her own act which is an elaborate interior with curtains parted at the back to the disclose a dressing-room, doing her dressing on the stage in full view of the audience. This part of her act has to be carefully guarded to keep it from being objectionable. The closing hand was fairly strong, with two curtain calls. Miss Hoffmann has insisted upon being the one headliner of all headliners, but there is no doubt hat she will be held the spot despite the fact that the house seems divided as to the merit of the act as a whole. I am sure that many think miss Hoffmann has been billed stronger than her ability justifies. [[underline]]WARREN & BLANCHARD[[end underline]],Com. S. & T.:- 15 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:55. These people did not show up strong enough to hold the spot on the bill and were changed. Their songs were good and the line of talk was amusing, but they by no means made a hit. Closed weak for people billed as strong as these. One works straight and the other coon eccentric comedy, with two changes of costume, male and female. An 8:30 rather than a ten o'clock act. BOBCAY'S ARASS:- 7 Min. F. S. 2 shows. On at 10:23. This is the regulation whirlwind Arab act, consisting of pyramid building, somersault work, and general gymnastics. There are ten men, and they keep things going very fast from start to finish. Plenty of applause and good close. KINETOGRAPH:- DISINTEGRATED CONVICT:- Amusing comedy film. CLIFF CLIMBING:- Interesting travel film that must have been very difficult to obtain. DINPPE CIRCUIT:-Second week of the best sporting film series that ever was seen in Philadelphia. We have played it up big and it is winning strong.- Altogether the KINETOGRAPH series is above the average. [[underline]]WARD & WEBER;[[end underline]]- 10 min. in 1. 3 shows. on at 6:27. This is a very good straight dancing act. It fills the bill acceptably, both boys being good looking and well trained. Can be recommended as all right anywhere in the three-a-day section.
