84. Boston Show, Week of Nov. 11, 1907. (Carl D. Lothrop) (Monday Nov. 11--Afternoon Show) Overture. 1.30, 8 min. Leo St. Elmo. On at 1.38, 4 min open in 1, 6 min full stage, 5 min close in 1; 15 min in all; 3 shows. Can do entire act in 1, if necessary. An excellent single musical entertainer. Am confident he would make good in an early spot in the smaller 2-a-day houses, while for the 3-a-days he is a find. Alpha Trio. On at 1.53, 15 min, full stage; 3 shows. Nobody need be afraid to play this excellent hoop-rolling act in a pretty fair spot on their bill. They would be O.K. here at 2.30 and 8.30. The boy is the best hoop-manipulator I have seen. The comedy element, while not particularly strong, is unobjectionable. Carroll and Baker. On at 2.08, 12 min, in 1; 3 shows. This act is certainly a bargain at the money. Their talk is fairly good, their parodies excellent, and their dancing great. I had about as soon have them as Hawthorne & Burt. James and Jenny Jee. On at 2.20, 15 min, full stage. Absolutely a great wire act. Good enough to play anywhere at any time. I regret that we have to use them so early. Mark Sullivan. On at 2.35, 15 min, in 1. I am please to say that Sullivan went very well indeed today. He has a lot of good stuff and delivers it exceedingly well. At $150 he is certainly a find for an act in 1, for I think he can entertain any audience. We are paying two fifty and three hundred to acts that cannot begin to make as good as he did this afternoon. "The Pianophiends". On at 2.50, 18 min, full stage. Went even better than when here in the early summer, although I think Miss Maple is missed. The new selections and fresh costumes make the act seem almost entirely new. Lillian Shaw. On at 3.08, [19?] min, in 1. One of the cleverest women working in 1 today. Went so well that we are able to play her as the last act in 1 for the rest of the week. Her success means much to us this week, for it makes possible a re-arrangement of the bill that would be out of the question otherwise, a change that is sure to add greatly to the value of the show. regret in connection with this case is that I was instrumental in getting Wesson several weeks' work.
