Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of December 30th, 1907. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) In its entirety the bill is very satisfactory this week. The only act that doesn't please thoroughly is Alec Hurley & Company. Ada Corbett. Character changes. Young woman put in the show to fill time and who does that and nothing more. 10 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Louis Bovais. One arm acrobat. this act is only fit to open the show in a continuous house and one needn't go crazy to get it even for that purpose. 8 Min. in 2, 3 Shows. Lambert & Williams. Man and woman, singing, dancing and talking. This is a fair 3-a-day act; while most of the material is old they get away with it in an acceptable manner. All right for an unimportant place in the 3-a-day section. 17 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Margo's Manikins. Considering the price and it is three shows, this act may be rated as good. Quite desirable for a holiday bill. 17 Min. Full Stage, 3 Shows. Clarence Sisters. Two good looking young girls whose singing is passable and they do some fairly good dancing and skipping-rope dancing. It is especially good from a 3-a-day standpoint and would be all right No. 2 in some of the 2-a-day houses. 10 Min. in 1, 3 Shows. Jupiter Brothers. The Cowboy Spiritualists. Rather novel act and mystifying which thoroughly pleased the audience. The act could be used as a "headline" feature in some of the smaller houses. 15 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Meredith Sisters. Character changes. these girls have elaborate costumes and special scenery. They present a rather pretentious act altogether which always goes well in this house. 19 Min. open and close in 1, 2 Shows. Five Majors. Five good looking chaps who do singing, piano playing, and imitations. Good lively, snappy turn which pleased the audience thoroughly. 15 Min. Full Stage, close in one. The close in one is really a drawback to their act and is better omitted when possible. 2 Shows. Max York's Dogs. No more satisfactory Dog act has ever been presented in this house. The applause at both performances yesterday was very great and the novelty of the act made a strong impression. 8 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Alec Hurley & Co. The first part of the act, Mr. Hurley's Coster Songs, is quite good. If he were to do a single turn alone, at a reasonable salary, I wouldn't find any fault, but the last part "The Coster Concert" is a dreadful affair. We may have had worse things in the house in the ten years that I have managed it, but if we have I have thoroughly forgotten what they are. 30 Min. open in 1, close full stage, 2 Shows. Wilbur Hill & Willette Whitaker. Songs and instrumental numbers. The act is too well known to require description, suffice to say they made a very big hit. 15 Min. in 1, 2 Shows. Flo Irwin & Co. In Geo. Ade's sketch "Mrs. Peckham's Carouse", one of the best sketches ever played in the house. Made the biggest kind of a hit and will undoubtedly draw money. 25 Min. Full Stage, 2 Shows. Stuart Barnes. Well-known comic singer and monologuist. With the show one-half hour late in the afternoon, Mr. Barnes went on in this awfully hard spot and held the audience for 18 Min. and made a hit. That should be satisfactory to almost anyone. In One, 2 Shows.
