2- Phila [???] F. SEMON, "The Narrow Feller":- 22 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:18. (Goes to F.S., then closes in 1.) Same act as previously given here and just as much of a hit. This act is particularly valuable in that it opens in one about three minutes, and closes in one about five minutes. Semon is a born entertainer and being one of the most grotesque personages imaginable,- everything helps to make a good act. WINSTON'S SEALS:- 15 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:40. This is a phenomenal trained animal act. The work the seals do is far more skilful than Woodward's Seals. Juggle with balls, torches, batons, etc. The house was interested from the start to finish, and applause was constant. Immense hand at the close after the juggling seal on horseback did his wonderful stunts.- MAY IRWIN:-17 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 9:55. To say that May Irwin was a hit is putting it very mildly. She got an immense advance hand, and for seventeen minutes gave the audience all they had been wishing for, and then some. Sang her whole repertoire of songs, and was compelled to give an encore, "The New Bully". The song, "I'm Afraid to Come Home in the Dark" will catch the town before the week is half out. All the hotel orchestras are playing it, helping to popularize it. From May Irwin's success to-day there is not the slightest doubt of her popularity with Philadelphians. Compared with Lloyd as a money-bringer she is sure to loom up head and shoulders stronger. We are fortunate to have her two weeks, for I believe she will draw better next week than this.- HASSAN BEN ALI'S TOOZOONIN ARABS:- 8 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:12. Well known on the Circuit. Whirlwind acrobatic act that never fails to please. One of the best closing acts in the business. Good applause throughout and strong finish. KINETOGRAPH:- THE UNLUCKY SHIRTWAIST:- Quite amusing comedy. HANDLING A BATTLESHIP FLEET:- Very timely and beautiful reel, clear and interesting. A CRAZY QUILT:- An excellent comedy film, almost as good as the "Rarebit Fiend."- WOOD AND LAWSON:- 10 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:40. Singing and dancing act of the conventional variety. The girl dresses becomingly and dances well. The singing is fair and the dancing is especially good, particularly that of the man who is one of the best in the business. Closed with curtain call and big hand. PRINCE & VIRGINIA:- 16 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:50. A very fair three-a-day local act, becomingly costumed, singing well, and having a fair line of parodies and talking material. GENERAL REMARKS:- This is an ideal Holiday week show. If there were any Quaker City pessimists who had an idea that the show would drop in quality because of the finish of the fight, their illusions are exploded. The show balances beautifully and the comedy element is supreme. The town is on to the fact that they are getting big worth for their money and the result is a jammed house afternoon and evening.
