PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S SEPTEMBER 8 9 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Pictures only fair. At least some of the subjects were on exhibition at one of the pop price picture houses on Saturday. "Topics of the Day" up to the average. LA MONT TRIO - (8 mins.) A very good wire walking act by two women and a man, one of the women acting only as an assistant. A lot of showy tricks, well handled and closed to a big hand. HOLMES & WELLS - (15 mins.) A singing and talking act by a man and woman. This is a refined turn of its kind but with very little action. Both have good voices. Got a fair amount of applause and finished to a big hand. KIMBERLY & PAGE in "Spring Is Calling" - (20 mins.) Opens rather slowly as it is somewhat talky for the first few minutes but picks up toward the finish and closed to a very good hand. Kimberly was formerly of Kimberly & Arnold, and is using the last few minutes of his former act, which includes some cross-fire comedy talk, that got a lot of good laughs. BOBBY O'NEILL & EVELYN KELLER - (16 mins.) Failure of baggage, including special set, to arrive in time for the matinee, made this couple work under a serious handicap that all but spolied their chances. Did all their act in one. Miss Keller working in street costume and while the dancing number had to be cut they got over in excellent shape, considering conditions and finished to a very good hand. HYMAN & MANN in "$5,000. a Year" - (18 mins.) This is a new sketch this season, and was fairly well received. It is along new lines but rather slow in action. It is very well played by three principals and finished to a fair hand. BEN BERNIE - (14 Mins.) This boy was a big laughing and applause hit with his violin stuff and talk. He has an easy style of working, a lot of good material and handles it in great shape. MELLETTE SISTERS - A classy dancing turn that was very warmly received by our audience. The girls are graceful steppers, have several showy numbers and dress all of them attractively. Lew Pollack, at the piano, scored individually with his piano selections and the act was a big hit. (20 mins.) BELLE BAKER - (18 mins.) A bigger hit, if possible, than last week with an entire change of songs and after she had sung these the audience kept her on the stage repeating those she sang last week. LOS RODRIQUES - A very sensational and decidedly showy perch act by two men. All their stuff is fast and made a very good closing number, getting a big hand at the finish. (8 mins.) GENERAL REMARKS - This proved a good show, even against very warm weather and with any kind of a break in the weather will prove thoroughly satisfactory. It got over in fine shape at the matinee.
