PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S SEPTEMBER 22nd 9 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Pictures fair. "Topics" very good. HERBERT'S LEAPING CANINES - (8 mins.) Their usual showy act that went very well in the opening spot. CHAPPELLE & [STINETTE?] - (15 mins.) A colored team, man and woman, with good voices. Songs were very well received. They dress the act nicely. Finished to a good hand. SMITH & AUSTIN - (12 mins.) The usual big laughing hit with their "nut" comedy stuff. Using about the same material they have for the past couple of years. MARGARET YOUNG - (15 mins.) A good selection of songs, well handled, put this young woman over in great shape. She sang five numbers, getting good returns on each and finished to a big hand with several bows. BARTO & CLARK - (15 mins.) A very good novelty with a lot of snappy comedy lines and good dancing. The opening held the audience at strict attention from the very start until the couple made their appearance from the talking machines and their songs and dances were very well liked. Finished to a big hand. CHARLES IRWIN - (15 mins.) He did very well with about the same line of material he used on his last visit here. Has a new song or two and some new stories, which he delivers very well. "BEE" PALMER" - (20 mins.) - An applause riot. She features the "shimmy" but does it in a way that there is no room for criticism. She also sings a ballad that was a bit hit and closed with a jazz number. All her songs were big applause hits and the jazz band got a liberal share for their work in the act. This is the best jazz band that has played this house. WILLIAMS & WOLFUS -(24 mins.) This act has made no change in the last two or three times they have played here but their stuff convulsed the audience just the same and they were one of the big hits of the show. U. S. GLEE CLUB - (16 mins.) This was the second week for this act. It was moved down to the closing position and following a big singing and comedy it held the entire house seated. They made several changes in their program. Finished to a big hand of applause. GENERAL REMARKS - A very good show surrounding our strongly featured headliner and it played very satisfactorily. Opened to almost capacity Monday with very warm weather against us and the show should draw very big. CUTS Charles Irwin - Eliminate the word "Damn". Williams & Wolfus - Eliminate the word "God" and also business of throwing pillow into audience.
