PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S December 1st 9 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Pictures and "Topics" up to the average. PIELERT & SCOFIELD - (11 mins.) A very good novelty juggling act with some comedy well handled by a man and woman. Did very well in the opening spot. MABEL BURKE - (16 mins.) A man and woman in a very good singing novelty, the woman having an unusually good voice. He sings new songs and she sings the old-timers with the words thrown on a screen. Went over in fine shape. "PLAYMATES" - (20 mins.) a group of juveniles, including four girls and two boys in a series of songs, dances and violin playing. Very pretty novelty, especially for the young folks, and it got over in very good shape finishing to a big hand. JACK LAVIER - (16 mins.) Comedy chatter mixed with his clever balancing on a trapeze got a lot of laughs and was given a big hand at the finish. His work on the trapeze is a sensational bit but is enlivened by talk. The combination forms a very good act in one. JEAN ADAIR & CO. in "Ella Comes To Town" - (30 mins.) A new sketch and a real classic. A little talky at the start but arousing a great deal of interest as the story progresses and all through the last half Miss Adair and her company had the audience not only interested but very much amused. It is entirely different from any of the other ones we have played and finished very strong. WISH WYNNE - (19 mins.) Her material is very slow and the act dragged. It seemed to be not as much her fault as the fault of the material. She was given strict attention, however, and closed to a good hand. JIMMY HUSSEY & CO. in "Move On" - (42 mins. A big laughing and applause hit from start to finish. Hussey was given a great reception on his entrance and from then on it was simply one laugh after another. A great big flash act with plenty of comedy and it cannot fail on any bill. In fact it went over so big this afternoon it killed the rest of the show and for the balance of the week will close the show. DIAMOND & BRENNAN - (14 mins.) Following Hussey's big act it was not an easy task for this couple but they got their act over in great shape, with about the same line of material they have used here in the past. JOSEPH DE KOS COMPANY - (6 mins.) A great acrobatic act by six persons. The arrangement of the show which put them in closing position at the matinee was changed and they held down the earlier spot in fine shape. The act has made good here every time we have played it. GENERAL REMARKS - This show had plenty of good material in it but the lay-out, for the first matinee, made it impossible for anything to show its value after the big Hussey act. With the latter in the closing position, changing places with the DeKos Troupe, the whole bill benefitted and proved thoroughly satisfactory.
