PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S May 17th 20 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Good. PEDRINI'S SIMIAN ACTORS - (8 mins.) Did very well in this spot. It is a good animal novelty but lacks showmanship. It should be much better. HAWTHORNE & COOK - (17 mins.) Got a fair amount of laughs with their "nut" comedy, which is about as exaggerated as anything we have ever played. Much of their material, however, needs censoring and many of their jokes are very old. GREY & OLD ROSE - (13 mins.) A pretty dance novelty by a man and woman, nicely dressed and staged. Singing is only fair but they have some pretty dance numbers which brought them excellent returns. BRISCOE & RAUH - (17 mins.) Comedy of this act is poor and brought them little. The man discloses a pleasing voice and they closed strong after getting along only fairly well. WILLIAM BRACK - (10 mins.) These men have worked into the middle of the show through the medium of avery pretty and novel stage setting, representing an artist's studio, after which they go into a very showy routine of rizley work. A very showy number that can hold any spot and it closed strong. CRAWFORD & BRODERICK - (14 mins.) This act repeated splendidly and we consider it one of the best comedy teams of its kind that we play. It was a big laugh winner and closed strong. SANTLEY & SAWYER - (34 mins.) A magnificent production that got over in great shape and proved a big applause winner. It is a beautiful act from start to finished and a headliner that ought to make town talk. They were given a great reception, won frequent applause, and closed very strong. OLSEN & JOHNSON - (15 mins.) A big applause hit in the next to closing position. They got big returns with their comedy and music and closed very big. THE McINTYRES - (10 mins.) A very good shooting act by a man and woman. They have some showy tricks, all well executed, and the act did very well closing the show. GENERAL REMARKS - Santley & Sawyer being a strong name act, as well as one of the most elaborate productions of its kind we have ever played, makes this show a strong drawing card and it is surrounded with plenty of comedy and singing. A capacity audience received it with marked approval. CUTS Pedrini's Simian Actors - Remark "That's all right I though you lost your pants. Hawthorne & Cook - Remarks "Old Maid's Children"; "Thank God the stork brings children in the same old way"; "The rich get richer and the poor get children"; also business of thumbing nose. Briscoe & Rauh - "My God" Crawford & Broderick - Remark "My God, when did the accident happen."
