PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S August 30th, 20 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Very good. REKOMA - (7 mins.) A very pretty opening act. The man is an unusually clever equilibrist and has a very showy routine of tricks. Did very well. BURNS & FORAN - (10 mins.) Two boys, excellent steppers. A very neat dancing number, with a variety of dances. Did very well, closing to a very good hand. "PURITANA" - (41 mins.) A new operetta with a big company. It contains some very pretty music and a good idea for a production but the voices are very weak. The comedy is also very light in texture. With a company that could get the music over the act would undoubtedly score. In its present condition it got only fair results. "BABE" RUTH - (12 mins.) The "Babe" Ruth motion picture attracted a great deal of interest. The pictures were very plain and those showing the slow motion of the ball players were particularly good. It made an excellent added feature to the bill. LYDIA BARRY - (22 mins.) She did as well as usual with about the same routine of material she has used in the past. She has made several changes in her comedy bits and got them over in good shape. Closed to a very good hand. "CHIC" SALE - (27 mins.) A big laughing hit. A lot of his material is new. He got plenty of laughs all through his act and closed to a big hand. "THE MAN HUNT" - (21 mins.) This act got over in fairly good shape, the comedy situations getting some laughs. It is talky at times and lost some of its comedy value through the poor handling of one of the comedy parts, but it held the spot nicely and closed to a fair hand. WILTON SISTERS - (16 mins.) The girls were really the applause hit of the show in the next to closing spot. They are doing about the same routine they have used here in the past, but all their stuff is splendidly done and brought plenty of applause. They closed very strong. SYLVIA LOYAL & COMPANY - (10 mins.) A very pretty novelty that did very well in the next to closing position. The woman gets a lot of good work out of the juggling of hats and the work of the dog and pigeons gave the whole act a nice finish. GENERAL REMARKS - This show is rather long, especially with warm weather, but it got over in very good shape with a capacity house at the opening matinee and will improve when it picks up more speed.
