PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S NOVEMBER 1st 20 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Pictures fairly good. "Topics" very good. SCHICHTL'S MARIONETTES - (16 mins.) A very good manikin act that did unusually well as an operner. Has a lot of novel features, well worked, and closed to a good hand. BEN SMITH - (15 mins.) Out of the ordinary in singles. Opens in a special set, with comedy talk. Got over in good shape, and closed with two or three songs. Good voice and got his songs over very well. ETHEL CLIFTON in "Diamond Cut Diamond" - (21 mins.) Made only a fair impression. Fairly well played but it is talky and drags. Little action to it until near the finish. Closed to a fair hand. EMMA STEPHENS - (13 mins.) Repeated very well, having several new songs, including a couple of good comedy numbers, that brought her very good results. Closed to a very good hand. BARONESS DE HOLLUB - (21 mins.) A clever bit of travesty, well played, by two persons. The dialogue is bright and got plenty of laughs. Both introduce song numbers and the whole offering got over in excellent shape. BEATRICE HERFORD - (8 mins.) She did not do as well as usual this time, principally because her material is not as good as formerly. Her best returns were from matinee audiences. "THE LITTLE COTTAGE" - (37 mins.) One of the best of the tabloid musical comedies we have played this season. Very bright and contains some catchy numbers and a lot of good comedy. Company above the average. Plenty of snap to it, well dressed, and it got over in fine shape. Closed strong. ROBERT EMMET KEANE - (13 mins.) A classy single that held this spot in fine shape. He has a lot of good stories, tells them well, and finished with a poem that took him off to a big hand. EARY & EARY - (5 mins.) This is a very good acrobatic novelty, a man and woman doing some excellent contortion work with rings and it made a very good closing number. GENERAL REMARKS - This show was generally pleasing. A change between Ethel Clifton and Baroness De Hollub was made after the first show, Clifton being moved up to third position and the whole bill played better. CUTS ROBERT EMMET KEANE - Eliminate words "Damn" and "My God". BEN SMITH - Substitute "cross-eyed" for "Cock-eyed."
