PHILDADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S March 21, 1 KINOGRAMS & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Pictures good. "Topics better than usual. VAN CLEVE & PETE - (7 mins.) First time we have had this act in many years and it did very well in the opening spot. MATTYLEE LIPPARD - (15 mins.) This girl has a good voice, makes an attractive appearance and has some good songs, with a saxaphone solo to close. Got over fine. MARLETTES MARIONETTES - (9 mins.) One of the best of the Marionette acts we have played. Have some very comedy work and got a lot of laughs. Finished to a good hand. JACK OSTERMAN - (20 mins.) This boy scored a good sized hit; has some good material and good songs. Injects plenty of snap into his work. Closed to a very good hand. JEAN ADAIR & COMPANY in "Any Home" - (19 mins.) A very good comedy sketch with three people in support of Miss Adair, who gives here usual finished performance. It has some laughs and a bit of sentiment and was warmly received. ETHEL LEVEY - (28 mins.) Following a very warm reception Miss Levey scored strongly with each of her numbers. She closed with a dramatic recitation that held a capacity house in rapt attention and closed to a very good hand. MARMEIN SISTERS & DAVID SCHOOLER - (25 mins.) An artistic dance and music number and a big applause hit. The girls do several dance numbers of unique design and Schooler introduces piano selections that brought him liberal applause. The whole act was a big winner from start to finish. GALLAGHER & ROLLEY - (12 mins.) Their new comedy act is shaped along the same lines as former offerings but they have some new cross-fire comedy talk that got them plenty of laughs and the mouth organ finish was a riot. EMILE & JOHN NATHANE - (6 mins.) An excellent acrobatic act by two men who work in evening clothes. Their work is showy, well done, and did splendidly in the closing position. GENERAL REMARKS - Opening against very warm weather and Holy Week as opposition, this show proved satisfactory all the way through and went big with a capacity house. Miss Levey was a big hit and would have been more so had not the Palm Beach romance robbed her of her daughter Georgette. Even without this punch it is a great show for Holy Week.
