Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of March 21, 1904. (Charles Lovenberg) A very satisfactory show which evidently pleased the audience present, and should go well all week and draw us some money. Kummins Trio. These people are pretty bad but they deserve credit for trying, at least, to do something, and have a new sketch this year. The act they do just gets by to open the show. 20 min. in 3, 3 shows. Bailey & Fletcher. Two colored men and usual act characteristic of these people, hardly as good as some we have had of late. Would not consider them safe in the big end of the show. 13 min. in one, 3 shows. Franzmathes & Lewis. Man and woman Rifle Shots. As we do not get many of these kind of acts there acceptable and this is all right for an important place on the bill. It is by no means, as good as Winona & Frank, who do a very acceptable act, of course, but it is all right doing three a day. 11 min. full stage, 3 shows. Cal Stewart. Yankee stories and songs. This man has some material which is new to us and has a pleasant method of delivering it. He was very well accepted by the audience and from a three a day standpoint should be rated as quite good. 15 min. in one, 3 shows. Rosaire. This is a very nice little slack wire act and the man is assisted by a woman. She looks pretty and they have a little quiet comedy and all in all the act is safe any time before 8:30. 11 min. full stage 3 shows. McMahon & Chappelle. Man and woman who present a talking act in a very unusual manner and they have some new stuff and old jokes, so old that they are new, and they get away with their work in great shape. The audience were highly pleased. I rather expected to see quite a little dancing which they didn't have in their act, and in this way, I was mislead in the arrangement on the program. 18 min. in one, 2 shows. Eva Mudge. In the same act she has given us before. While I think the act pleases and probably creates a little talk, somehow or other she never gets much applause. The same thing happened on a previous engagement, but at that time, she had a more difficult position in the bill. and I expected she would go stronger today than she did; however the act is novel, and good to look at and should be rated as good. 15 min. open full stage, short close in one, 2 shows. Sydney Grant. In his usual imitations, funny stories, presenting a very clean and good act. The only trouble is, that he stays on too long and I shall ask him to shorten his act some. While he is all right and worth his present salary I didn't consider the act, in any sense of the word worth more than he is getting. His time this afternoon was 24 min. in one, 2 shows. Sullivan & Weston. These people do a crazy act and get a lot of laughs, but I don't believe they leave any impression and one would not care a great deal if they never saw it a second time. 14 min. in 3, 2 shows. Katherine Bloodgood. Contralto. Her act is the same as usual, her voice rather better than heretofore. 10 min. in one, 2 shows.
