131 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE, PHILA. SEPT. 8TH. BIOGRAPH-"No Speed Law There." Automobile climbing in Switzerland, an excellent real life picture. "A Fight in the Dormitory." A pillow fight among young girls. "The Snap Shot Fiend"--fair comedy picture. "The Cook's Lovers"--not a very good comedy scene. "The Coney Island Beach Patrol"--an excellent real life comedy picture. "On the Grand Lagoon"--parade of decorated floats on a Carnival day at the St. Louis Exposition. Very Good. "Over the Burning Sands"--parade of the Mystic Shriners at Luna Park, Coney Island. Very good picture. 20 mins. Sheet. LEIPZIG--Man, manipulator of cards and coins. As clever as any artist in this line we play, not excepting any of them. Every trick received applause. Could make good most anywhere on a bill in this house. Very good three-show act. 15 mins. in one. WILSON & DAVIS--Two men, cross-fire street talking act in imitation of fields & Ward's old act. Well known on the circuit. Have played here every twelve weeks for nine months. Good time fillers for the early bill. Get a few laughs now and then, and do nothing objectionable. 12 mins. in one. FAUST TRIO--Baggage didn't get here and the act (booked in Empire, Cleveland) became discouraged and closed of their own accord. MARTIN BROS.-Straight xylophone act. Too well known on the circuit for comment. Always go quite well here in an unimportant place on the bill. The baggage went astray and they could not go on in their place on the bill. WALTER DANIELS-Character impersonator, making up in view of the audience. A very strong act for the three-show section. Always makes good here in a place on the early bill. Impersonates: Svengali, Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde, and the old violinist in "Mistress Nell." 8 mins. one. THE GLEESONS & FRED HOULIHAN--New York reported on this act last week. Houlihan adds little to the act, and their value in one is lost. They have new costumes and new work. Very good singing and dancing act. 15 mins. Pal. in 5 SYDNEY DEANE & CO.-Four men, singing act, entitled "Christmas on the Island." special prison scene drop in one. Act reported on by New York last week. Only three of the men sing. Their voices are only fair. Much of the talk should be cut out and re-arranged. The holiday audience applauded everything, and gave this act three curtains and an encore. The idea is novel, but the work could be greatly improved. 24 mins. Spec. drop in one. MR. & MRS. GARDNER CRANE--Presenting their well known comedy sketch "Am I Your Wife?" Too well known for extended comment. It is a good sketch, but has been seen at the Bijou and here so much that it has not an ounce of drawing power for a headliner. Excellent to fill in with. 26 mins. C. D. F. in 3 BRANDOW & WILEY-Man and woman, colored team. Good, lively act. Same line of work as all of these colored song and dance acts. 14 mins. one. BEDINI & ARTHUR--The act is well known. Bedini is probably the cleverest all-round juggler we play. Arthur, the assistant, is an exceptional comedian, and adds materially to the act. An excellent sight act. They have a new stage setting and do a lot of new stuff. 15 mins. Landscape in 4-Close in one. SANDOR TRIO--Three men, ring performers. this is another act that plays the circuit very frequently. A very good act of its kind, nearly every effort receiving applause. 10 mins.-Gar. in 3.
