WEEK COMMENCING SEPT 12th, 04
PITTSBURG, PA.
STEREOPTICON- 2 shows. Showing views of the world's Fair, St. Louis. 15 minutes.
CHAMEROYS- 3 shows. 10 minutes in three- wood. Comedy acrobatic act. Does fairly well for the three a day section.
JOHN GEIGER. 3 shows. Trick violinist. In one. 9 minutes. We consider this a good three a day act.
SWAN & BAMBARD- 16 minutes. wood in three-closes in one about three minutes. Eccentric Comedy act. This is a very good act and always goes well with us. We have them on at 2:10 and 8:05 and starts our show off in good shape.
COOPER & ROBINSON- 16 minutes in one. Carry their own drop. Two colored gentlemen-singing, dancing and talking act. This act does very well for us at 2:30 and about 8:20. I would not care to chance them any later on the bill.
MARCEL's PICTURES- 15 minutes in three. They have about half the act we expected and it is certainly a disappointment to us as we have played them several times before and they were always a big hit. They have eliminated the colored pictures and give us nothing but the bas-reliefs. While this end of the act is as good as formerly, the act as a whole does not please our audience nearly so well as during their other engagement. We would not care to play the act as it now is, a return at any figure.
FORD & GEHRUE- 14 minutes in one. Singing and dancing act. This act is going very big with us and we consider it one of the best dancing acts in the business.
MANSFIELD- WILBUR Co. 23 minutes in their own set-full stage. We have been trying to figure why this act should get $500. There is absolutely no need for their carrying their own scenery and we think it nothing more than a bluff to increase their salary. We consider the sketch a very bad one, the acting fully as bad and if it was not for the finish which, by the way, is far from being great, we would have been compelled to close the act. I have seen the act three times and each time I see it I feel sure they are getting money under false pretence,
MATTHEWS & ASHLEY- 17 minutes in one. This act is away from the usual run of acts. The introduce the Jew and the dope fiend. Their parodies are very good and go very well with our audience.
MABEL MCKINLEY- 13 minutes, full stage. Miss McKinley is singing about as well as ever but I do not feel that she draws a great deal of money now as this is her third appearance here and I think she is about through in Pittsburg so far as increasing the business is concerned.
JACK NORWORTH- 18 minutes in one. Monologue. He is always a big hit here and his local songs are going bigger than ever.
ZENO, CARL & ZENO- 9 minutes- full stage-wood. Elevated bar act. This act is very good of the kind but does not go well with our audience on account of our having them close the show.
KINETOGRAPH- 15 minutes. Very interesting subjects showing the Nest Robbers which is very good, also the Making of a Newspaper which seems to interest our people.
BROBST TRIO- 15 minutes in two. 3 shows. This is a dancing act- mother, father and son and does very well in the three a day section.
