Report on Providence show Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I..Week of October 12, 19[text hidden by tape] Charles Lovenberg) The show this week is fully up if not better than [illegible] had this season. We had a good big enthusiastic audience and everything went with a "Hurrah," even the Stercoptican and Biograph are above the average. Stereoptican. As usual. Arvello. Muscular work on bar, opening with muscular display after the style of Sandow. For a small act at the salary it would be all right if it were not so short. Eight minute act had no value unless there is considerable merit to it, moreso than we get from these small acts. 3 shows full stage. Crolius & St. Alva. In the same sketch "A silent woman" which they have previously done and which may be rated as fair. from a 3 a day stand point. 17 min. in one. The Crotty Trio. A little singing principally dancing. The man is a very good dancer and the young girl is fair. The woman is absolutely "excess baggage". The act as a whole may be rated as fair from a 3 a day stand point. 15 min. open full stage, close in one. Pelot. Kid Juggler. This is a very good little juggling act and the comedy is quite acceptable. He does the work of having people in the audience throw apples at him which he catches on a fork in his mouth and gets quite a lot of comedy out of it without littering up the stage and making a mess as some of the others do. A good act. 13 min. open in two, close in one, can do entire act in one. 3 shows. Frank Purcell & Jeanette Brooks. A comedy sketch in which they have some very good material and the act went first rate with the audience. 15 min. open in 3, close in one, 3 shows. Lucille Joselyn. Soprano. She has a very nice voice and made a big hit. Her rendition of the song from Ernani was exceptionally well done and thoroughly appreciated. 12 min. in one. 2 shows. Edwin Stevens. I simply verify the report given by Boston that this is the best act of its kind in the business. The audience throughly agreed. 26 min. open in 3, close in one, 2 shows. Wilfred Clark & Co. Dramatic sketch "In the Biograph" which went with shrieks of laughter and must be rated as very good. 17 min. full stage. 2 shows. Press Eldridge. He gives us considerable new material and in spite of a very hard place he made good in first rate fashion. 20 minutes in one, 2 shows. The Amoros-Werner Troupe. In a nondescript pantomine act full of trick furniture introducing Juggling of a very fine order although of a very small quantity. The act went with a roar with the audience. 18 min. full stage, 2 shows. Brown & Nevarro. Brown & Neverro. In their usual act with a little new material. 12 minutes in one, two shows. Reed's Terriers. The same act practically we have always had from him. 8 minutes full stage. 3 shows. Biograph. O. K.
