39 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF OCTOBER 19th. STEREOPTICON.-- Usual selection of views. 3 minutes in one. RUSKIRK & RICH.-- An alleged musical comedy act. Very poor. Closed after the first show. In the place of this act, I will put Barr & Evans in a comedy sketch, which is too well known to need any comment. GRR 3 HAWAIIAN GLEE CLUB.--Five men and one woman. They claim to be natives of the Hawaiian Islands. A singing act, and also introducing some mandolin and guitar playing. It is a pleasing sort of an act, but would not amount to anything at any greater figure. I get them very cheaply here this week in order that they may show their act, but I hardly think they will be wanted any where else on the circuit. 14 minutes, full stage. ER 3 - ARMSTRONG & WRIGHT.--A man and a woman in an eccentric comedy and dancing act. The man is of the original team of Armstrong Bros., and the woman one of the Wright Sisters. They have already been over the circuit two or three times and every body is familiar with the act, the feature of which is the woman's endurance dancing, which always makes the act close with a big hand. 12 minutes in one. HR 3 --PELOT.--The Kid Juggler. This fellow's juggling does not amount to very much, as he uses but little except the regular apparatus, but with this he is quite clever. He adds to his act by keeping up a running fire of talk. He closes his turn by allowing people in the audience to throw apples at him, which he attempts to catch on a fork held in his mouth. It is a mighty good three show-a-day turn. 15 min., open full stage, and close in one. GRR.--2.--ROSIE RENDLE.--In a character change and dancing act. This is a European turn and the woman is quite a good dancer and has some very pretty costumes. She had an idea, which I hardly think will amount to anything in this country, of making her changes against a white back ground and calling them Continental postal cards, but our people in this country are so unfamiliar with that kind of cards that I think that it rather puzzled them and I think it will go better without them and I have cut out that part of it. 13 minutes, full stage. GRR.- 2-. PAUL BARNES.--In a turn of songs and parodies made up as a tramp. This fellow has some exceptionally good material, both in talk and songs and does a very acceptable turn. I think that there is no question but that in the near future he is going to be among the best of them. He is a little bit uncertain about his work just now, but his songs are all bright and fresh and he tells some very good "gags." He went very well this afternoon. 16 minutes in one. NRR.--2.--THE WAYBURN ACT.-- Went fully as well on this afternoon as it did the two previous weeks, and as the house was packed it was fair to presume its drawing capacity has not diminished. 24 min. full stage. NH 3 --HERBERT [BROOKS? CROOKS?].--A young English fellow who does an act of card manipulation, closing with the familiar trunk trick. This is the act that Mr. Keating put on in Boston, and I can fully endorse his recommendation of the same. The fellow is remarkably clever in every way. His card work is exceptionally good, and I have never seen the box trick done so well in my life as he did it. It is a remarkable act, and particularly so on account of his doing three performances. YHR 2 - COLE & JOHNSON.--This is unquestionably the best colored team of their kind in the business. They had several new songs this afternoon and their concert singing is now, as it always was, the feature of their act. They made a big hit this afternoon, so much so that it causes a bit wait in the bill on account of so many curtain calls which they took. 17 minutes, full stage.
