74 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16, 1903. STEREOPTICON.--Usual selection of views. 4 minutes in one. HR 3--SPAULDING.--This is a young fellow who does a comedy acrobatic act. There isn't a great deal of comedy to it, but what little he does is not in any way offensive, and he does some hand-jumping which is really as good as any that I have ever seen. It is a thoroughly [all?] right act for an opener and would be acceptable even further down on the bill. 10 minutes, full stage; close in one with about three minutes. AR 3--ARVELLO.--Equilibrist. This fellow opens with the [???] which is all right and interesting, and he then goes to some strong equilibristic work on a horizontal bar. He is a very clever performer, the only objection to his act being that it is exceedingly short. 8 minutes full stage. GYH.-3--THE FEMALE DUMMER QUARTETTE.-- Four colored men in a singing act. The turn takes its name from the play of "Female Drummers" with which they were connected for a couple of season. They open with a full stage representing a restaurant, the mean appearing as waiters. They do some exceptionally good singing and make quite a hit on an early place on the bill. 17 minutes, open full stage with about four minutes in one. NR -3-NORTON & RUSSELL.--A man and woman, in an acrobatic change act. This act while not an especially strong one is still all right in a small place on the bill. They make several changes of costumes and while there is nothing in the way of comedy to recommend it, the changes are all right and are made very quickly. They close very good with a bit that was called "The Dago and the Monk", the girl representing an organ-grinder and the man a monkey, which sent them off all right. They will get through without any difficulty about first or second on the bill. 13 minutes, open full stage; close with about two minutes in one. NH -3-VALESCA.--A pretty young girl who does an attractive trapeze act. she has been on the circuit several times and her act is too well known to need any comment. 11 minutes, full stage. AR -3-JOHN GEIGER.--Trick violinist. He introduces a lot of imitations on the violin. This fellow has a very pleasing personality and he does a lot of imitations with the violin that are really clever. It is a rather short act, but he certainly reaches his audience. Ten minutes in one. MNH.--2--HOOSIER ZOUAVES.-- Seventeen men; sixteen men in the actual drill and the commander. I think this is really the best drilled act that we have ever had on the stage. At the time I saw it at Hammersteins this summer I was not so favorably impressed. I did not think then that it was as good as the Streeter Zouaves, but they have added several bits since I saw it last and it really went strong this afternoon; in fact, stronger than any similar turn that we have played. After their wall scaling they were obliged to take about three curtain calls. They have made a rather strong feature of the wall scaling by the way by making the last man a wounded soldier who is entirely helpless and whom they help over the wall. It is sure to be a big hit everywhere. 10 minutes, full stage. GRR -2--MURPHY & WILLARD.--A man and a woman in an act that consists of a little singing and some eccentric comedy talk. They go especially strong in this house, the man's dry humor apparently appeals to this audience. The woman is neatly dressed, is a fair singer and makes a good feeder for her partner. 20 minutes; they open in full stage and close with about 4 minutes in one. EVERHART.--GNH 2--THE HOOP ROLLER. This act has improved at least 100% since I saw it last; I had an idea when Mr. Keith booked it that the salary was pretty high, but I am very glad to be able to say that I think the act is fully worth what he receives. He has all the hoop rollers in the business paralyzed. His work is extremely clever
