Keith's Bijou, Criticism, Week of December 14th, 1903. STEREOPTICON: Usual collection of views. ROONEY SISTERS: C.D.2; 10 minutes; 3 shows. Can close 1. Very nice looking young girls who can sing not at all and who dance only fairly well; very small act; scarcely worth repeating. LENORE & ST. CLAIR: Man and woman in one; 12 minutes; 3 shows. A very light talking and singing act; some of the stuff goes fairly well, but on the whole the act is light and scarcely above the opening of the show quality. THE THREE BARRETTS: Garden 3; 13 minutes; 3 shows. Comedy club juggling act; 3 men, two rubes, one in tennis make up. Rube make up is all right and good scouring will help the tennis suit to look the part. Their club work is very clever but the feature of the act, which ought to go much better than it does and could be developed into quite a strong part of the act, is the hat juggling and throwing. The act did fairly well here though the work of the men deserves better than it got. Played the circuit, I think, and I would call it all right for any of the houses. NEWELL & NIBLO: Man and woman in one; 14 minutes; 3 shows. Straight musical act; very neatly dressed and quite well done; all right in their place. They went very well to-day. BILLY CARTER: In one; 20 minutes; 2 shows. Black face entertainer and banjoist. Carter has quite a bright monologue which he hands out very well; all through the act he got liberal laughter and was called back for an encore. Can play any of the houses with success. VALESCA: Garden 4; 9 minutes; 3 shows.; Aerial artist; rather nice looking shapely young woman who does the regulation trapeze act. She did very well with our audience to-day, although I have seen her go better in other houses. WILSON & DAVIS: Street in one; 16 minutes; 3 shows. Two men in talking act that has played the circuit. They went very well. FITZGIBBON McCOY TRIO: C.D.F.3; 20 minutes; 2 shows. Can close one: This act was the comedy hit of the bill, young Fitzgibbon having improved very considerably since I saw him last. There is a lot of slap stick and squirt gun comedy in the act but it proves inoffensive and made our audience laugh very heartily. I call it a good act for any of the houses. WM.CAHILL: Street in one; 16 minutes; 2 shows. Irish comedian on the J.W Kelly order but, of course, a long way behind Kelly though somewhat reminiscent of him. His stories are well told and they got plenty of laughs throughout the act. Can be rated as all right for here though I was not very confident of him after the way I saw him fall down at the Union Square the last time I saw him.
