107 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE, PHILA. DEC. 14TH Rae & Benedetto-12 mins.-Gar. in 3-close in one-Two men, on revolving ladder, one working as clown; other straight. The latter is a contortionist. Very good act for the early bill. Yacklay & Bunnell-18 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-Two men, musical comedians, one working blackface; other straight. They play a variety of instruments, and their selections on some of their novelties seemed to please the audience. The comedy is very ordinary. Good musical act. Kitamura Japanese Troupe-23 mins.-Gar. in 5-Seven Japs, in the regular Japanese balancing feats. They make an excellent appearance, and their work is as good or better than the average. Held the attention of the audience throughout, and received frequent applause. Mabel Hudson-10 mins. in one-Soloist; came for rehearsal, but was in too late to go on in her place on the bill; missed the afternoon show. Wesson, Walters Co.-19 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-Man, woman and boy, in a sketch "Jinks, the Insurance Agent." A change from their old sketch, "Hotel Repose." In the new act the boy has more to do than in the old act. It has some bright spots in it, and received occasional laughs. Billy Link-17 mins. in one-Blackface monologue. He had them laughing every minute, but he walks on the deadline, and will have to be watched closely. Callahan & Mack-20 mins.-Spec. Set in 3-In their well known act "The Old Neighborhood;" went very well, with many laughs and liberal applause. Dorothy Neville-12 mins. in one-An indescribable singing and monologue act. Imitations of Jas. Richmond Glenroy, a tough messenger boy and a German comedian. Gets some laughs, but is crude in spots, and part of her act will have to be cut. On too late for her ability. Will go up the line. Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy Barry-22 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-In their old rural sketch; here before. Barry gets many laughs, and carries the comedy throughout. A good comedy sketch that succeeded in pleasing the audience. Prelle's Dogs-12 mins.-Gar. in 3-A great dog act, especially for the children. Intense interest was manifested at the circus performance, and the act went very strong and received much applause. Shean & Warren-22 mins.-Spec. Set in 4-In "Quo Vadis Upside Down;" too well known for comment. The audience liked it immensely, and demonstrated their approval of the comedy with roars of laughter. Clifford & Burke-17 mins. in one-Two men, blackface song and dance; make-up of Williams & Walker; also endeavor to imitate them in other ways; very lively act; full of action; and they get the laughs; good act. Fred Gillett Trio-10 mins.-Spec. Set-Two men and a woman, in a corking good act of comedy and equilibrism; went very well and rounded out the show in good shape. Biograph-20 mins. in one-Good selection of views. Mabel Hudson-Sang supper show; good act; will get good place (Note). H. A. DANIELS.
