125 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE,PHILA., PA DEC 28, Alice Lewis-12 mins. in one-Character songs. She is [inclined to?] over-do ever thing she attempts. No harm on the very early bill. [illegible} ripple of applause, by courtesy. Her imitations are bad. Mrion & Deane-15 minsLansc. in 2-close in one--Man and woman, singing and cross-fire talk. Man can't sing. some of the talk is bright enough to be entertaining. Fair to good three-a-day act. Ouda-10 mins.-Gar. in 3-Man on the trapeze. He does some really good work. Dresses the act with an assistant, and accomplishes some unusual feats. Exceptionally good three-a-day act, and much better than some two-a-day performers. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Shaw-10 mins. in one-Regular old time song and dance. Lively act. Sing coon songs with a broad Irish brogue. Woman dresses in fearful taste. Good enough for three-a-day - - no better. Mitchell & Marion-17 mins.-in one-Two men, one black face-one white, in imitation of minstrel first part. First time here. A packed house sent them off with roars of applause. Went very strong. Fadette Woman's Orchestra-30 mins.-Gar. in 4 Received advance applause on the curtain;packed the house on Monday afternoon;will be good for three or four weeks, and draw every minute. Paul Barnes-15 mins. in one-Tramp make-up. A great improvement. Tells stories and seems to please the audience. Went 100% better than when last here. Maybe it was the big audience. Good. Frank Kennan & Co.-27 mins.-Interior in 4-Sketch "The Actor and the Count," one of the best dramatic-comedy--mostly comedy--sketches we play. Pleased immensely and held the closest attention throughout. Very good. Ethel Levy-15 mins. in one-The fact that she is Mrs. Geo. M. Cohan has some drawing power. Although her act went well it was not by any means a hit. She is no better than Nora Bayes, and it is probably that many in the audience did not like her as well. She is overpaid for her ability. Her "Morgan" song that George sang here for two weeks went well, and received more applause than any other thing she did. Good, but not excellent. Sloan & Wallace-20 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-Man and woman, in a comedy sketch "The Plumber." The first fall down in the line-up. The bill was too strong, and the act suffered by contrast. The act is good--in it's right place-- and will go better when put on earlierl. It finishes much stronger than it opens. Got some laughs on the card game. Good Act when placed right. Kaufmann Troupe 15 mins.-Gar. in 4-Three men and three woman;greatest bike act in America;repeated the hit made when last here. McMahon & Chappelle-15 mins.-in one-Man and woman. Their sand dancing is good and they have sine original stuff, but are not strong enough for the place. Not as strong as Ethel Levy, and will be shifted. Good two-a-day act. DeWitt,Burns &Torrance-15 mins.-Two men and a woman, in a sketch, entitled "The Awakening of Toys." A corking good act for the holidays. Toys represent a tin soldier, a doll and a jack-in-the-box. Pleased the audience immensely. especially the children.
