135 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of Jan. 4, 1904 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1-- Usual collection of home and foreign views. Marion and Dean, 3 shows, 13 min. in 1--Talking, singing and dancing act by a man and woman. Their trunk did not arrive on time and they were obliged to go on without costumes. Under the circumstances did very well. It is an all right act for the 3-show-section. Rosa Lee Tyler, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--Known in the profession as "The Creole Nightingale". Was obliged to go on in her street costume, as her trunk did not arrive on time. She is a very good singer, and went well with the audience, all her selections being encored. Kitamura Japanese troupe, 3 shows, 18 min. full stage--One of the best acts of the kind we have ever played, the costuming, in particular, being rich and elegant. Act made a hit, and will be moved down the bill. Chris Lane, 3 shows, 15 min. in 1--This man was so bad we canceled him at once, notwithstanding he has played New York and Philadelphia, and has some of the other houses to follow. He is coarse to the verge of vulgarity, has an unprepossessing personality, and there were some hisses for the worst of his rude jokes. La Troupe Fantastique, 2 shows, 13 min. full stage--This is a pretty act and the dancing is good, for some unexplainable reason it certainly never "makes good" in this house, and we will be obliged to move it up to the position on the bill held by the Japs in the first show. Vera King, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Monologue comedienne and singer. Went very strong, especially with "coon" songs at the finish, and I shall probably engage her for the opening week of the songsheet, January 23. Theo Smith and Miss St. George, 2 shows, 25 min. full stage (can close in 1, if necessary)--Novelty instrumentalists, played by both, with harp solos, and vocal solos, with harp accompaniment, by Miss St. George, all of which were enthusiastically encored. It is a pity that Smith imagines he is a comedian. Mayme Remington and Bungle Booloo Babies, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Same act she gave us during the previous engagement, and went much better. One of the hits of the bill.
