148 Julius Tannen, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--One of the best highclass entertainers who has appeared here for some time. He makes a specialty of curtain speeches of famous actors, among them Mansfield, Goodwin, Henry Lee and DeWolfe Hopper, and imitations of George Cohen and Joe Welch. His mimicry in voice and action is wonderfully lifelike. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew, and company, 2 shows, 23 min. full stage--Presenting for the first time here a new one-act play called "The Yellow Dragon", which is claimed to be founded on an actual incident in the late Chinese uprising. It was capitally stage, and splendidly acted by the principals and their support, and held the undivided attention of the audience from start to finish. It is a mixture of comedy and melodrama, and is decidedly an acquisition to vaudeville. Crane Brothers, 2 shows, 20 min. in 1--In their humorous burlesque on the country minstrel first part. Scored the laughing hit of the show. Ramza and Arno, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage--Eccentric comedy act, in which they employ a couple of dummies, and one of them makes up as a donkey, finishing with a funny bit of burlesque rope walking. It is in no sense a big act and should properly be in the early part of the show, as it is not strong enough in the place I have it. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Capital lot of pictures, this week, including a colored one that made a bit [big hit?] another, called "The Deserter", which went almost as well as "Looting the Mails", last week's hit. These pictures are one of the features of the show and people never seem to, tire of them. The Vedmars, 3 shows, 11 min. full stage--Man and woman, in acrobatic and tumbling specialties, on the ground and single horizontal bar. The man makes up grotesquely, but the comedy does not amount to much, and the act can only be considered a good one from the 3-a-day viewpoint. Comment:- We had quite a large and enthusiastic audience this afternoon, and the show went well from start to finish, with the single exception of Nelta, as noted above. There is a good balance to it, which is really what pleases most. I will move Ramza and Arno up the bill for the evening show, but otherwise it will run as above.
