178 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF FEBRUARY 8, 1904. HR--3--BIOGRAPH.--Presenting the colored view which is really the best piece of work which the biograph people have ever given us. We are a little "shy" on show this week, and instead of opening with the stereopticon decided to give four shows of the biograph, and it seems to be a pretty good idea, for while this film is especially strong and receives quite a "hand" at the finish, I think that there are a lot of people every week who for various reasons could not or do not wait for the biograph and to whom placing it on at an early hour of the afternoon it is quite a novelty. 27 minutes. NR 3--THE MAGINLEYS.-- A man and a woman in a double trapeze act. These people have played the circuit so many times that it is hardly necessary to criticize their act. I consider it the best small aerial act that we ever played. 12 minutes, full stage. NR 3 THE HOLDSWORTHS.-- A young man and woman in a singing, dancing, and musical act in which they play banjos quite nicely and do some very good dancing. They dress the act neatly, and it is a very clever 3-show-a-day turn. 12 minutes, in one. HR 3--SULLUQUAY BROS.-- A couple of young fellows in a bag punching specialty. I think they do about as good work in this line as any performer we have ever played, but I don't think that our audience cares particularly for or understands much about this kind of an act. However, it makes a good turn for the opening of the bill. 8 minutes, full stage. NH 3 BIJOU RUSSELL.-- A YOUNG lady in a turn of "coon" songs and dances, and I consider her really clever. She has considerable magnetism, a very pleasing personality, and a fairly good voice. 11 minutes, in one. YRR 2 GARDNER & VINCENT.-- A man and a woman in an eccentric comedy sketch. They have been over the circuit before, but they have made several addition to the act which has improved it. Their finish in particular is very strong indeed, and the whole act went well here. From 2 to 2:30 and from 8 to 8:30 is about the hour that their act should get on the stage. for that place I believe they start the big show off in mighty fine shape. 19 minutes, full stage. KR 3 OTTO BROS.-- Two young men in a German comedy act. There is no question but that these two boys are going to do a very fine act at no far distant day. They opened this afternoon with a peculiar kind of a song which went pretty good. Then they went back considerably and for about five minutes I thought the act was going to pan out badly, but they seemed to recover themselves and finished quite strong. There is no question but that they have the ability, and as soon as they feel a little easier in their work I think they will take rank with the best of the Dutch acts. 16 minutes, in one. MHR 2 THE GIRL WITH THE AUBURN HAIR.-- She made some changes in her songs this week, and the act went about the same as it always does in this house; that is, no great amount of applause, but evidently a satisfactory feature. 13 minutes, full stage. HR 3 LOUISE HENRY--Billed as "The Sal Skinner Girl," and presenting an act modelled after Rose Melville. The girl is really quite clever in her way, but has not got exactly the right material as yet. She went all right and will hold down the somewhat important place that I was obliged to give her very acceptably, but a great deal of her patter is old, and in fact the first thing she told this afternoon I was obliged to cut out. However, it can be safely classed as a good 3-show-a-day turn and will unquestionably improve. 9 minutes, in one. ER 2 HERBERT LLOYD.-- He is next to W. C. Kelly the best comedy juggler that we play, or rather it would be more appropriate to say the most eccentric comedian, for what juggling he does does not amount to much, but he certainly has some funny ideas in regard to make-up, etc. He had rather an off afternoon today and was further handi-
