188 CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE, PHILA. FEB. 15TH SULLAGLEY BROS.-10 mins.-Gar. in 2-Two men, bag punching act, lively act and starts the show off well. Team work is excellent. Very good three-a-day sight act. MUSICAL THOR-12 mins. in one-Man, playing banjo and xylophone; acceptable for a small three-a-day act. Act was liberally applauded. WILSON & DAVIS-12 mins. in one-Two men, cross-fire talking and singing act, in imitation of Fields & Ward. The audience seemed to like them, and they can be called good in the three class. THE MAGINLEYS-11 mins.-Gar. in 4-Man and woman, trapeze artists, dress neatly, work well, and present a good, quick-working sight act; punctuated throughout with applause; very good three-a-day act. ED. GRAY-15 mins. in one-Monologue. Gray is a very clever fellow, and always has good stories. This is his third or fourth trip here, and he always goes well. Very good for the three class. GARDINER & VINCENT-19 mins.-Spec. Set in 4-Two men and a woman, in a comedy sketch, entitled "An Idyl of the Links," a lively, quick-working comedy act, with a ripping finish. Very good. BIJOU RUSSELL-11 mins. in one-A neat, clever, attractive girl, doing a singing and dancing act that entertains and pleases. Went very well. LE ROY & CLAYTON-Man and woman, in a comedy sketch "A Horse on Hogan." Sketch has little action, and depends entirely on clever and catchy dialogue. It is a mistaken identity affair, without any action, and wholly talk. Went very well, with many laughs. Good act, but doubt if it is as strong as Gardiner & Vincent's. HELENE GERARD-12 mins.-Water Landscape in 5-We understand this woman has three acts. Number one, which she is giving here; number two, where the cart and dogs are used; and number three, the best of all, in which the posing in the black art drop is done. They were all given with the Barnum show, but on one week engagements, the simplest of the three acts is presented. One of the Three Avolos is traveling with Miss Gerard as her husband or manager. She also has a French horse trainer, who claims to have trained horses for the Czar of Russia. This gentleman has two assistants. The number one act that she gave us to-day consists entirely of high school riding. She uses two horses, working one at a time. They do the cake-walk, the waltz, and other fancy evolutions. The act went exceptionally well, and was applauded throughout, with curtain calls at the finish. The horses are well trained, and work without balking. The act made a real hit. ADAMINI & TAYLOR-12 mins. in one-Man and woman, well known on the circuit. As is known, the man's comedy is poor, but the singing is exceptionally good, and carries the act. Good singing act. RICE & COHEN-22 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-Man and woman, in "The Kleptomaniacs." Of course, it's full of laughs, and a very good sketch.
