218 NEW YORK SHOW, WEEK OF MARCH 7, 1904. SR 3 MUSICAL HUEHN.-- This is a very good little musical act, the man making up as an eccentric German, and while his comedy is nothing to brag of it is harmless, and his musical ability carries him along. 17 minutes in one. NR 3 THE NOHRENS.-- A man and a woman in a very good trapeze act. Coming so soon after the Aerial Smiths, who do such a ratling good turn of this kind, it suffers a little by comparison. Still it is a good number and pleased the audience immensely. 10 minutes, full stage. AR 3 BILEY & FLETCHER.-- Two colored men in the usual singing and dancing act. They proved to be, however, a little better than the average, and the eccentric dancing of one of the team was really very funny. They made a big hit this afternoon. 16 minutes in one. HR 3 AL COLEMAN.-- Stories. I am afraid that Coleman will never get beyond the 3-show a day class. However, he is not at all bad and suffered a little this afternoon by following after Bailey & Fletcher. 12 minutes in one. GRR 3 NEWSBOYS QUARTETTE.-- Four young fellows in the customary singing act. They are all pretty good singers, and if the evidences shown by the audience is a criterion, it can easily be classed as a good 3-show-a-day turn. 14 minutes. Can work entirely in one if necessary. GHR 2 THE BALLETT UNIQUE.-- This is a dance by eight young girls, the act having been put together in Philadelphia and booked at the suggestion of Mr. Albee. They open rather poorly in an Indian costume makeup and singing Winona, and as neither of them are good singers the effect is not particularly brilliant. They then change to short knee dresses and do the old imitation mirror dance, that is using gauze for the mirrors and four working behind and four in front, after the style of the Rosebuds. Then they change to knickerbockers and do a dance which is composed of about equal parts of fencing, dancing, and drilling, the fencing part being quite novel. On the whole it is quite a pleasing act. 16 minutes, full stage. GHR 2 JESSIE COUTHOUI.-- In about the same act that she did here before. She went very well indeed, but is suffering from a case of tonsilitis, which no doubt has some effect on her work. 13 min. in 1. GYH 2 SWIRL & KESSNER.-- A man and a woman in an acrobatic and dancing act on the eccentric order, both of them being clever, lively performers. 18 minutes, open full stage, and close in one. YHR 2 EDOUIN & EDWARDS.-- In their old act "Batchelor's Dream," in which Miss Edouin impersonates four or five different characters and sings her mother's laughing song which is immediately recognized by the audience. The act is a good one throughout. 31 minutes, full stage. NH 2 JULIUS TANNEN. Mr. Tannen makes a specialty of imitating the speeches of different actors, with some stories sandwiched in between. He is quite a clever performer, but was somewhat handicapped this afternoon by a bad place in the bill, which will be changed at night. 17 minutes in one. SHR 2 DAVIS & McCAULEY.-- In a sketch entitled "Pals." The cast includes Mr. Davis and his wife and two men, making four people in all. The sketch is constructed evidently from an idea taken from the sensational place that has been playing so long in England called "Humanity." With the exception of about a minute and a half, or possibly two minutes, the sketch is really a bright and pleasing comedy act, full of brilliant lines and with the situations thoroughly worked
