Report on show Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of September 4, 1905 (Charles Lovenberg, Mgr.) It is pretty hard to get a good line on the show from the audience standpoint with a holiday crowd when everything makes a hit, how-ever it is fair to assume that the show is a very good one from start to finish. In giving my report I will give my own opinion of the acts rather than that of the audience or as I think the audience will take it the remainder of the week. Barr & Evans. Comedy sketch well known on the circuit. 12 min. in 3, can do a short close in one, 3 shows. Jack and Bertha Rich. Singing, dancing and talking act. Singing bad, talking passable, dancing quite good. A fairly good act for the early three a day section. 12 min. in one. Two Delmars. Barrel jumpers. I was led to believe that there was a trio in this act in fact had so advertised them. These men are quite clever and do a number of very difficult tricks. Exceptionally good three a day turn. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Alf. Holt. Imitator, animals and sounds frequently heard. This man has a good personality and is offering a better series of imitations than when here be-fore. His act is good enough to go on in the early two a day section. 15 min. in 1, 3 shows. Smirl & Kessner. Acrobatic, comedy sketch. The woman of this team has greatly improved and the man has also introduced a number of new tumbling feats. I consider the act far in excess in value of O'Brien & Havel whose act it somewhat resembles. 16 min. open in 3, can close in 1, 2 shows. Mirzl Von Wenzl. Tyrolean Warbler. Personally, I rather like this girl's work and while she went fairly well today I am inclined to think that the audience didn't quite grasp her style of singing. I am inclined to believe that she will go better with our regular patrons than with the holiday crowd. 8 min. in 1, 2 shows. Blocksom & Burns. In their knock-about eccentric acrobatic act which is just the same as on former occasions. It is very funny and makes good, thoroughly. 13 min. open full stage, can do two or three min. in one, 2 shows. Geo. W. Monroe. "My Aunt Bridget". This is his first appearance here although I believe he has played the rest of the houses. He has a wonderfully unctuous personality and a lot of good material and gets the laughs. 23 min. in 1, 2 shows. Olive May and J.W. Albaugh, Jr. In a very dainty little dramatic sketch entitled, "Lady Betty's Highwayman." Miss May plays her part exceptionally well and Mr. Albaugh is acceptable. With the regular patrons the act should make quite a hit. Was a little bit over the heads of todays audience. 22 min. full stage, 2 shows. [covered] the first two presented today which were the "Automobile chase", a decidedly effective and funny picture somewhat resembling "The Impossible Voyage", and "The Opening of the Base Ball Sea-son in New York" a very attractive picture. Lorvette. Magician. Haven't had an opportunity to see this act. Will give you a report on it later.
