Criticism New York -- Oct. 9th, 1905. Mc GLOIN & SMITH: 2 men. Singers and dancers. Singing does not amount to anything. The dancing is their stronghold for which they received quite a lot of applause. 10 min. in one--3 shows BEAN & HAMILTON: 2 men. Barrel Jumpers. One works straight, the other comedy. They do some very good work. The comedy end of it just about passes. A good three-show act. 8 min-full stage THE GREGSONS: Man and woman: Singing and Dancing. Woman is very attractive looking. Quite a pretty fair singer, while the man just about passes. One of the neatest of this kind we ever had. Will try and give them a better place. 16 min. in one. THE MAGINLEYS: Man and woman. Aerial Artists. Well known. Always go well here. 11 min.-full stage BRUCE & DAIGNEAU: 2 women: Carrying their own scenery, gives the act a little bit of novelty and makes it thoroughly alright for the three-show section. Their voices sound off due to a cold. Will place them a little earlier to-night. This place on the program is a little late. 11 min. open in one-close in one-3 shows. BEN JOHNSON: Works straight. Pleasing personality. Was rather disppointed in this fellow to-day. He only got a small hand in this place on the bill. His act consists of stories and recitations. Received the biggest hand on the parody of "Barbara Fretchie". His stories got very few laughs. 17 min in one KELLY & KENT: Man and woman. In a comedy sketch: The woman is new and I think fully as good as the old partner. They were a little slow on the start-off, but managed to get them on the finish with their tough dance, which proved to be the biggest applause hit of the show up to this time. 17 in. full stage-close in one - 3 shows HARRY LeCLAIR: Impersonator. Well known. Went fully as strong to-day as before. Had them laughing throughout his entire act. 23 min.-full stage--close in one--2 shows two curtain-calls. 11 min. -2 shows KINETOGRAPH: "The Opening of the Baseball Season of 1905-New York and Boston" Quite appropriate for this season in the year during the World's Championship Games. Picture rec'd. a big applause. "The Interior of Creusot's Steel Foundry" Very interesting. Some parts of the film is bad photographically, but however it pleases and is instructive. "Rescued by Rover" This picture is English, and is quite novel. It is a chasing picture but off the ordinary. The dog does the chasing alone to find the child. Very good.
