Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of October 22, 1906. (Chas. Loveberg, Mgr.) The show this week may be classed as fairly good: nothing makes a hit until we get down to Wilder, from there on it was very strong. There was a lack of life and strong comedy. Chadwick Trio. These people are about the same as when they were here before. I see no improvement in the act at all but it is all right as a timekiller to open the show. 17 min. in 3, don't close in 1, 3 shows. McGloine & Smith. These men are very good dancers but their act is so short it possesses little value. 9 min. in 1, 3 shows. Swift & Buckley, This is one of those old time musical acts in which the instrumental performances are decidedly rotten but they get by all right with their comedy. May be classed as fair in the three a day section. 14 min. open in 3, close in 1, 3 shows. The Valdings. Two men who do an acceptable trapeze act: while it is fairly good it is not strong enough for their place on the bill but it is the best of the acts up to now. 9 min. full stage, 3 shows. John Eberly. Baritone vocalist. This man has a nice voice but I was rather disappointed as I expected something a great deal better. I think he gets about forty dollars a week too much and for a straight singing act of this kind, by a man, it certainly should be in the three a day section. 11 min. in 1, 2 shows. The Chamberlins. Lasso experts. These people are very clever but they have been seen here so much that the novelty has worn off of the act consequently they are not strong enough for the important position they have on the bill. 10 min. full stage, 3 shows. Jas. F. MacDonald. Comic singer and story teller. He has some good songs and a number of new stories and a good personality. Went quite well with the audience and fully worth the salary. 16 min. in 1, 2 shows. Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Darrow. Practically the same criticism applies to them that I have given above to the Chamberlins. They are good but have been seen too much to have to show them in as important a spot as I am obliged to in this bill." 13 min. full stage, 3 shows. Augusta Glose. First time hiere for this dainty little comedienne, who, while she went fairly well this afternoon I think will make a hit with the night crowd. I coincide with everything that has been said in her praise, in the other houses. 11 min. open in 2, close in 1, 2 shows. Elwood F. Bostwick & Co. In a comedy sketch called "Cranks" founded on the automobile craze. The act is a very good one for the salary paid and got quite a few laughs this afternoon. This spot was also a little strong for them as they should go on by three oclock in the afternoon and 8:30 at night. 25 min. full stage, 2 shows. Marshall P. Wilder. Much to my s8rprise this man made the biggest kind of a hit with as cold an audience as we have ever had in the house. He is going to be worth money to us this week. 17 min. in 1, 2 shows. Staley & Birbeck. In the transformation act which they have always give us and which, while it went fairly strong I would not care to repeat next year as these things when seen twice, the public care no more for until a couple of seasons have passed. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. The Seldoms. Statue act. One of the most beautiful acts we have had, of the kind. Properly this act should be in the middle of the bill but I have nothing to put at the bottom so I think I shall have to keep this there. 10 min. full stage, 2 shows. Motion Pictures. O. K.
