152 "Mysterious Sphere", 2 shows, 10 min. full stage--The act is presented by Belle Stone enclosed in a steel ball ascending and descending a spiral tower. It aroused considerable wonderment but that is all. Not a "headline" act for this house by any means. Forced to move it up in spite of the fact that it was our "topline" feature. George Wilson, 2 shows, 18 min. in 1--Popular blackface comedian. Had a new line of talk and parodies and held down this spot quite acceptably today. Cut "Old family tooth brush"; When she dies cut down her clothes", in reference to marrying a fat woman so as to have her clothing made over for a thiner one to come. Al W. Filson and Lee Errol, 2 shows, 21 min. full stage--In the farcical sketch, "A Daughter of Bacchus" The audience did not appear to take the subject as one to be displayed on the stage. There is no question but what it was well done, but the idea is one which I think will hardly appeal to Boston audiences. Dragged the show a little today in this late spot and I will move them up a couple of pegs. Don't intend to convey the impression it is all bad for it gets lots of laughs. Julian Eltings, 2 shows, 10 min. in 1, close full stage--To my mind, the greatest of all female impersonators. Is especially valuable to this house owing to the fact of his connection with the Cadet Theatricals. Went fully as strong in this difficult spot in the bill as he did on his first appearancce in vaudeville last winter here. He is really the drawing card of the show this week. While there are other impersonators of this sort on the stage, I have yet to see one who is the thorough artist and who typifies the American girl as well as Eltings does. The Glincerettis, 2 shows, 8 min. full srage--Sextet of European acrobats, well-known on the circuit. They work lively and it is a good act of this sort and like all acts of the same nature, scores applause throughout. I think these people should be gotten after, as I see no reason why they should drop their time from what they did last year and at the figure they should do more time. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following list of interesting motion pictures: 1. Everybody Works But Father. Good comedy subject. 2. The Fire Cascade. Pretty colored film. 3. The Barnstormers. Good comedy. Smith and Baker, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Two men, comedians and dancers. Of fair 3-show value and I should not care to see them much higher on the bill. Comment:- This show worked snappy all through but there was considerable falling off in time. We had practically a full house today. I cannot say that our "topliner" made good by any means. Still, if it was to be used for the early 2-show act, I do not think it would fall down. I have every reason to believe that patrons of Keith's, Boston, pay unusual attention to our advertising, and for that reason is to be laid the credit for the Sphere act being a failure in the spot today.
