182 New York Criticism--Feb. 12th, 1906. HUSTON & DALLAS: Man and woman. Man in eccentric character. Comedy Jugglers. Received a few scattered laughs for the comedy. Juggling is very ordinary. Alright as an opening act. 15 min. full st.-3 DANIEL HEALY: A.D. 1186. First appearance. Messenger boy,-singer and dancer. This young man has a pleasing personality with a good voice and a fairly good dancer. Little amateurish in getting on and off, but he will work out of that in time. Presume he will hold his own over the circuit. 10 min. St-1--3 shows TROLLEY CAR TRIO: 3 men-2eccentric and one impersonating a monkey. First time here. They carry their own scenery, representing a trolley car, used for break-away work. Acrobatic work is good, nothing sensational, but pleases. Alright for an early place in the three-show section. 16 min.-full stage- 2 shows DUDLEY, CHESLYN & BURNS: Character change singing act. The addition of Burns is not such a great improvement. Dudley & Cheslyn carry the act along with their singing. The comedy scored fairly good with the holiday crowd. Alright for an early place on the bill. 23 min.-full stage (Can close in one) 2 shows DORA PELLETIER: Male Impersonater. With the holiday crowd, this woman was a frost. Gave imitations in male attire, which looked very awkward. Will change her costume and I think she will go better. 16 min. in one-2 shows EDMUND DAY & CO.: In the Arizona Incident:-"The Sheriff." Intensely interesting. Plenty of big laughs. Closed very strong. 25 min.-full stage- 2 shows BASQUE QUARTETTE: 3 men and a woman. Operatic selections. All their work was greatly appreciated. Strongly applauded on the finish. 13 min. in one- 2 shows BURKE-LaRUE & CO.: Man, woman, boy and girl. In a comedy entitled:- "The Outside Inn." Some of their material is new,- a little taken from their other act, and some from other performers. The act on the whole is alright with plenty of good strong laughs, but I fail to see why they ask the increase in price. 21 min.-full st.-2 JOHN C. RICE & SALLY COHEN: In their comedy:-"All the World Loves a Lover." First time here. This act is not as strong as some of their other comedies. Went fairly well with the holiday crowd. In the hands of other people, I presume it would prove a frost. The sketch depends solely on the business which is good. 28 min.-full st. SMITH & CAMPBELL: Talking Comedy. All new material. Songs and dialogue all original. Started off weak, but got them good and strong on the finish. 18 min.-St-1- 2 shows WOTPERT TRIO: 3 men. Acrobats and Equilibrists. First time here. All their work is new and novel and each trick applauded. A good act. 9 min.-full stage- 2 shows KINETOGRAPH: "The Last Witch." Good photographically. Otherwise fair. "The Gaieties of Divorce." Good comedy "The Opium Smoker's Dream." Good.
