192 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of Mar. 5, 1906 Overture, 2 shows, 8 min. "Old Time Melodies". Sawadas, 3 shows, 15 min. full stage--Man and woman, Japs, who do some hand and foot juggling. The woman does the foot juggling and the man is a fairly clever hand juggler with small articles. Although they had a poor spot today, it went quite well. Schbert Quartet, 3 shows, 13 min. in 1--Mixed quartet of vocalists. Good act of the sort for the 3-a-day section, and went very well for this spot with our audience today. Harry Edeson, 3 shows, 9 min. open in 3, close in 1--Clean-cut looking chap exhibiting quite a clever canine. The dog does not do anything wonderful, or much out of the ordinary, but nevertheless, he pleased mightily in this spot. Eddie Clark and "Six Winning Widows", 2 shows, 29 min. full stage (Can close in 1, if necessary)--Has been described in the other houses. I don't think the act is worth what we are paying, and I do not believe a great many of our patrons are familiar with the race track, still, it went better than I thought. Cannot be considered a good act for the money. Cut "Six Little Tailors", as it might refer to a firm in this city. Bobby North, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage--Hebrew comedian and parody singer. Went quite well this afternoon, especially with his parody of almost every tune. Marcel's Living Art Studies, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage--He has an entire new list of subjects including two bronzes since he was last here. While I think they are the best groupings he has ever given us, I am also of the opinion that from the standpoint of the ordinary patron, although appreciating the artistic beauty, they would rather see them elsewhere than in a vaudeville theatre. The bronzes drew a lot of applause while those to which I refer elicited none. James Harrigan, 2 shows, 15 min. open in 1, go to 2, close in 1--Well-known monologue comedian, juggler and parody singer. He did 20 minutes today, but as we have a lot of show, we will cut out one of the songs which amounted to very little. He scored the first good hearty laugh of the bill today, and had them howling. Cut -- "sucker"-"darn"--"It is too dirty I dasn't tell it". Edmund Day, 2 shows, 28 min. full stage--In the playlet, "The Sheriff". Went very well today, in fact, fully as well as on its first appearance. Houdini, 2 shows, 40 min. full stage--This man did the handcuff and trunk trick today and during the past week, with the exception of Friday evening, when he did the packing case. The whole town is talking about him. He won considerable applause this afternoon getting out of a pair of ship handcuffs after working the audience in great shape. He has certainly got them going in great shape. Comment:- The show, as a whole, is quite an improvement over last week. Houdini is the talk of the town. We are playing to all we can take care of, which is all that can be asked.
