198 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of Feb. 26, 1906 Overture, 2 shows, 7 min.--Selections from "It Happened in Nordland". Mr. and Mrs. Lucier, 3 shows, 17 min. full stage--In the comedy sketch, "A Rustic Romeo", with instrumental and vocal specialties. Been described in the other houses. Went very well in this spot. Garrity Sisters, 3 shows, 9 min. in 1--Singers and dancers. First time here. Two very clever dancers who introduce many new steps. Good 3-a-day act of the sort that was repeatedly applauded. Saona, 3 shows, 9 min. full stage--Impersonator of Great Men, Past and Present. First time here. Been described in the other houses. All of his subjects were strongly applauded and his closing impersonation, Pres. McKinley, sent him off to a big hand. Excellent act of the sort for the 3-a-day section. Katherine Bloodgood, 2 shows, 9 min. in 1--Well-known contralto. She sang three selections, every one of which was strongly applauded. I believe she went far better than ever before in this house The [Ortons?] [3?] shows, 8 min. full stage--European acrobats and balancers, introducing three clever balancing dogs. first time here. Neither the comedy nor the balancing of the men was anything exceptional, but the novelty of the balancing dogs, who were introduced, was something new to our audiences and carried the act off in great shape. Gus Bruno, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1--Facial artist and dialect comedian. First time here. I can only reiterate the criticism of Providence; one of the best facial artists we have ever had here. His dialects are almost perfect and he aroused frequent bursts of laughter and applause in this spot. Will move him down a couple of pegs for tonight. Bud Snyder, 2 shows, 18 min. full stage--Trick bicyclist, introducing jumping and somersaulting on the wheel. First time in 5 years. Some of his tricks are so reckless that they created considerable stir among our audience, in fact, too much. He was not in good working order, and failed in many of his tricks. As a consequence, we will move him up till he at least gets in better working order. Post and Russell, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Eccentric comedian and dancers. First time here. Their comedy and singing amounts to very little, but their grotesque dancing is all right. Owing to the fact that we have so much dancing in our bill, shall have to shift them in order to split it up. Cut "one of the men putting his fingers to his nose". Harmony Four, 2 shows, 15 min. open in 3, close in 1--Four men, three in eccentric makeup and one working straight, in musical comedy. First time in four years. One of the men is a very unctious comedian scoring applause and laughter at whatever he did. Is a good act for this spot in the bill coming before HOUDINI. Cut "Cupboard was bare and so was the girl I guess". though it has been somewhat scratched. 4. Ski Running. Good film 5. A Shave by Installments. Good comedy Grace Leonard, 3 shows, 11 min. in 1--In vocal character changes. Very poor spot we were obliged to use this act in, but she went very well and I will try to shift her up the bill for the balance of the week. The Weavers were dissatisfied with their position and canceled Comment:- The show with such an attraction as Houdini would be quite bad. There is altogether too much dancing in the bill with the Garrity Sisters, Post & Russell, Harmony Four, Searle and Violet Allen and the Four [Collinis?]. I gave Houdini big space in all of today's papers and have him billed practically everywhere.
