McMahon's Minstrel Girls, 2 shows, 9 min. open in 2, close full stage. Has been described from New York. Personally, and from the standpoint of the audience, I do not think this act is worth the money we are paying, but at the same time, I can't see how we could cut the price down much. Did not go very strong in this spot today, and we will move them up for the night show. It is not a bad act, but these things to no appeal strongly to Boston audiences. Houdini, 2 shows, 25 min. open in 1, close full stage--Seventh and last week. We have them doing his Hindoo needle trick, rope tying and trunk mystery this week. Still he gets big hands on his entrance and held the audience absolutely intact and to be the most talked of entertainer in town. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 3--Showing the following list of motion pictures: 1. The Rarebit Fiend's Dream. Second week and as big a scream as last week. 2. The Dear Boys Home for the Holidays. Fair comedy film 3. The Silver Wedding. Fair film. Arnot and Gunn, 3 shows, 18 min. in 3--Man and woman in the Irish comedy sketch, "Regan's Luck". The sketch tells the story of an Irishman who received a letter purporting to come from Ireland and stating he has been left the property of his uncle. He starts to celebrate when he receives another letter informing him that the first was a joke. It is quite a clever little sketch for the 3-a-day section and got considerable laughs in this very poor spot on the bill. Ferguson and Watson, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1--Vocal and conversational comedians. Not much for this house. In fact, they are just where they should be. Cut "Fool". Comment:- The show will turn out to be a very good one to night, the principal fault with it this afternoon being the scarcity of comedy. We have gotten over that defect by putting "The Rarebit Fiend's Dream" into the middle of the show. Considering this is Holy Week, which probably affects Boston more than any city in the country, we had a very good audience this afternoon.
